Unique Photographic Opportunity: Location Photography and Lighting with Joe McNally & Jerry Courvoisier Milan, Italy, September 30 - October 5, 2007
(PRWEB) July 7, 2007 -- Join location lighting master Joe McNally and digital workflow guru Jerry Courvoisier for a memorable workshop in Milan, Italy September 30 through October 5, 2007. With Joe's guidance, participants explore the use of natural and artificial light, reflectors, strobes, and tungsten to light interiors, exteriors, large and small spaces, street scenes, and people in a wide range of situations and locales. Joe discusses lighting issues that arise in the field when using small on-camera speedlights, as well as the challenges of more elaborate productions. Other topics include gaining access to locations, methods for covering magazine assignments, the CEO portrait, corporate annual reports, and blending a variety of techniques and approaches.
Jerry Courvoisier leads the digital workflow component of the workshop, sharing his knowledge of how to organize, edit, and process images with maximum efficiency. He discusses his personal approaches to Adobe Bridge and Lightroom, color management, digital capture, simplifying the download process, streamlining the image editing workflow, exploring the benefits of Raw format image capture and processing, and methods of image retrieval and archiving. The goal is for participants to perfect their digital SLR camera skills and the digital workflow process so they can focus on making successful images. In addition, Jerry demonstrates the use of Adobe Raw Conversion, to perfect basic image adjustments, and Photoshop, for local image enhancements in tone and color.
This workshop is for experienced photographers with a solid foundation in artificial lighting. A working knowledge of their digital SLR camera and digital workflow is essential.
The emphasis is on learning to "write" with lighting -- to use lighting techniques to shape the mood and color of a photograph. Participants delve into color temperature, working with natural light and strobe, and learn how to mix the two effectively.
Milan, recognized as contemporary Europe's fashion and design center, is the ideal place to experience Italy at its most cosmopolitan and stylish. With an enthralling mix of old and new, the city provides stunning backdrops for daily location lighting sessions. P12 Studi Fotografici, a 5,000-square-foot studio space, is the home for classroom lectures, demonstrations, and group critiques.
